NASHVILLE -- With the exception of that first half against Boise State, Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze is very happy with how his Rebels have started this season. Bo Wallace threw for 320 yards and a touchdown, and 15th-ranked Mississippi routed Vanderbilt 41-3 on Saturday in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams. The Rebels (2-0) have beaten Vanderbilt in Nashville in consecutive seasons after the Commodores had won five of the previous six. The Rebels won in dominating fashion with their largest margin of victory against an SEC opponent since beating Mississippi State 45-0 in 2008. "Im excited to get a road SEC win for sure, and I thought our kids played a pretty solid game," Freeze said. "I thought Bo managed us really well. He made two decisions that hell probably look at the film and say, Man, I shouldve done something different. But I thought he played really solid." Ole Miss scored on seven of its first eight possessions with the shortest drive covering 67 yards, and the Rebels never punted. Jaylen Walton started the scoring with a 20-yard TD, and ITavius Mathers and DeVante Kincade also ran for TDs. Wallace put the Rebels up 20-0 with a 20-yard TD pass to Cody Core, and he was sacked as the first half ended with Ole Miss threatening to score again. Playing an hour north of his hometown in Pulaski, Tennessee, Wallace had 249 yards by halftime, and his day was done after Mathers TD with 9:29 left in the third quarter. "I love playing here," Wallace said. "Its fun for me to come up here. At the same time, its just a game. More people I know get to see me play in person, but I dont think theres any more pressure." The Commodores (0-2) still are searching for first-year coach Derek Masons inaugural win, but at least got their first offensive points with a field goal. Vanderbilt played 25 freshmen and redshirt freshmen, and Mason promised theyll be better in two weeks than they were today. "Were just fighting through the growing pains of being young," Mason said. This was the third game in Nashville for the Rebels since opening the 2013 season at Vanderbilt and their second straight at LP Field, home to the NFLs Tennessee Titans. It was their second road game to open the season, and the Rebels certainly made themselves at home in a crowd of 43,260 in the red and blue seats. "Im really pleased at this point that theyve handled environments that were a little different, that didnt feel quite like what you feel in some of the stadiums we play in normally," Freeze said. Ole Miss outgained Vandy 331-76 in total offence at halftime and finished 547-167. The Rebels also piled up 34 first downs -- the most in a game under Freeze. Cliff Coleman returned an interception 39 yards less than a minute into the second half, and Mathers, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, padded the lead to 34-0 with a 2-yard TD run. The Commodores have been outscored 78-10 since James Franklin left in January for Penn State. Vanderbilt didnt get past midfield against the Rebels until the final couple minutes of the third quarter, and the Commodores had to settle for a field goal after recovering Kincades fumble at the Ole Miss 5 in the fourth quarter. Stephen Rivers started at quarterback after Mason declined to announce a starter after rotating three in an opening loss to Temple. Rivers was 6-of-25 for 60 yards, and Coleman picked off Rivers first pass of the third quarter and ran it back 39 yards for a TD and a 27-0 lead. It was the first career start for Rivers, a transfer from LSU and the younger brother of Philip Rivers of the NFLs San Diego Chargers. "That was my first start, and there were definitely some rookie mistakes," Rivers said. "Ive been around a lot of games the past three years, but that was my first start, and theres definitely things Im going to learn from." Thurman Munson Jersey .7 million, one-year contract, a raise of $2.2 million. Wieters had asked for $8.75 million and the Orioles had offered $6.CLEVELAND - Carlos Carrasco has gone from the starting rotation to the bullpen to back to being a starter again. Hed like to keep it that way. "Thats my job," he said. "I just want to stay there." Carrasco improved his job security by shutting out AL East-leading Baltimore on three hits over seven innings, lifting the Cleveland Indians to a 6-0 victory over the Orioles on Saturday night. Carlos Santana hit a three-run homer in the first off Ubaldo Jimenez (4-9) and Michael Brantley added a two-run shot in the fifth as the hot-and-cold Indians won for the fifth time in six games. Jimenez, who pitched the Indians to the post-season in 2013, lost to his former teammates for the second time this season. Carrasco (5-4) got two inning-ending double plays to avoid early trouble and then retired 15 straight after giving up a leadoff double in the third. Its the second straight strong outing for Carrasco, who won for the first time in 17 decisions — since June 29, 2011 — in his last start at New York. "I think hes better equipped to pitch," manager Terry Francona said. "I think he feels good about himself. I think being out in the bullpen helped him a lot. It let him settle in and get his confidence and kind of understand who he is. Its a big lift for us." The Orioles have lost consecutive games for the first time since June 28-29. Inconsistent starting pitching has been a problem for the Indians all season, and Francona has been waiting for someone to step up. Carrasco could be the guy. The right-hander, who went 0-3 with a 6.95 ERA in his first four starts, hasnt allowed a run or walk in 12 consecutive innings. Carrasco has always had electric stuff and the Indians have held out hope he would figure things out. Pitching exclusively out of the stretch, he threw five shutout innings against the Yankees last week, and if he continues to pitch the way he has lately, hell hang onto his starting job for a while. "We talked about him wanting a spot in the rotation this spring," Francona said, "and now he has gone out and earned it by what hes done.dddddddddddd That should be really rewarding for him because he deserves it." Clevelands unreliable defence — the Indians lead the majors in errors — turned double plays to end the first and second innings behind Carrasco. In the ninth, right fielder Chris Dickerson ran down Steve Pearces shot to the track, preserving the shutout. Santana staked Carrasco to a 3-0 lead in the first with his 21st homer, a 422-foot shot to centre. Jimenez came in leading the AL in walks, and he put Michael Bourn and Jose Ramirez on to start the inning. One out and a passed ball later, Santana made his former batterymate pay with a towering blast into the shrubs behind the centre-field wall. "He didnt get off to a good start," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of Jimenez. "He walked the first two guys and the next thing you know were down 3-0." Brantleys 18th homer capped a three-run fifth to make it 6-0. KLUBERS REST Not wanting to take any chances with ace Corey Kluber, the Indians will push his next start back to Thursday at Minnesota. Kluber has been the ALs most dominant pitcher for two months. SANTANAS SHOT: His homer was the 92nd of his career, tying him with former Indians All-Star catcher Sandy Alomar for 28th on the teams career list. TRAINERS ROOM Orioles: CF Adam Jones played despite soreness in his right hand, which was hit Friday night when he tried to get down a bunt
