BALTIMORE -- Limited to three hits over seven innings, the Baltimore Orioles turned to their reliable, standard weapon -- the home run -- to pull out a comeback victory over the New York Yankees. Jonathan Schoop and Adam Jones connected in a four-run eighth inning, and Baltimore completed a two-game sweep of the rain-shortened series with a 5-3 win Wednesday night. The Orioles lead the majors with 152 home runs, are 35-10 when hitting more than one and 58-25 when going deep at least once. After Schoop tied it with a drive off Dellin Betances, Shawn Kelley (2-4) gave up a single and a walk before Jones hit a shot into the bullpen area beyond the centre-field wall. "When were down by one we always feel were just one pitch away," Jones said. "So that happened, and once we tie the game all the marbles are up. First one to score one wins." Jones made it happen. As the ball dropped over the fence for his 23rd home run, he raised his right arm in triumph as he rounded first base. "Big spot, big home run," Jones said. "Nothing wrong with showing a little emotion here and there." Darren ODay (4-1) worked the eighth and Zach Britton gave up a run in the ninth en route to his 25th save. It was the eighth straight series win for the AL East-leading Orioles, who increased their margin over the fading third-place Yankees to eight games. Baltimore is 8-3 against New York this season, outscoring the Yankees 60-31. "Its tough right now because they are hitting very good," New Yorks Francisco Cervelli said. "Theyve got a couple of hitters who are really hot right now." Yankees manager Joe Girardi missed the finish after being ejected in the seventh inning by home plate umpire Gerry Davis. Girardi was furious after Davis called New Yorks Stephen Drew out for running in the baseline on his way to first base. "Yeah, well, Gerry was wrong," Girardi said. Girardis second ejection of the year came with New York ahead 2-1 on the strength of Cervellis second home run of the year, a two-run drive in the third inning off Chris Tillman. The lead didnt stand up, and now the Yankees are stuck in a four-game skid and scrambling to stay in the playoff hunt. "Weve got to start winning series again," Girardi said. "We have not won the last two series and we put ourselves in a little bit of a hole." Making his first appearance in the big leagues since April 23, New York starter Michael Pineda retired the first 12 batters he faced before Nelson Cruz doubled to open the fifth. Pineda allowed one run and two hits over five innings. After being suspended for 10 games for using a foreign substance on the mound in April, the right-hander went on the disabled list with a shoulder muscle injury. He left after throwing 67 pitches. "We thought he started getting the ball up a little bit," Girardi said. Baltimore played without its two starters on the left side of the infield. Third baseman Manny Machado was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee ligament and shortstop J.J. Hardy missed a third straight game with a sprained left thumb. Tillman gave up two runs and five hits in seven innings. TRAINERS ROOM Yankees: After throwing fastballs off flat ground, RHP Masahiro Tanaka (elbow inflammation) said through an interpreter, "I feel good because everything is progressing in the way that I want it to." Girardi said, "Our hope is hell pitch in September." Orioles: Machado said his injury is "not as bad as we thought." Hardy hopes to return for the weekend series in Cleveland. UP NEXT Yankees: After taking Thursday off, the Yankees open a three-game series in Tampa Bay. Girardi has opted to start Hiroki Kuroda on Sunday instead of Chris Capuano. Orioles: Baltimore gets a day off before facing the Indians to launch a nine-game road trip that includes a weeks stay in Chicago, where it will face the White Sox and Cubs. BEAST IN THE EAST The Orioles are 30-19 against AL East foes, the best in-division record in the AL. New York is 21-25 in the division, which goes a long way toward explaining its deficit in the East. Germaine Pratt Womens Jersey . MADRID, Spain -- It was no surprise when Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain named their new coaches almost simultaneously on Tuesday. For weeks, the clubs were tied together over the fate of Carlo Ancelotti. Ultimately, with a year to go on his contract at PSG, Ancelotti was successfully lured by Madrid. At the same time, PSG filled the void left by Ancelotti by settling on Laurent Blanc, who was last seen on a sideline leading France at the 2012 European Championship. Both teams got the men they wanted, winners of titles as players and coaches. Madrid got a coach with a little less ego than Jose Mourinho and a little more sensitivity, while PSG didnt get its first, second or third choice, but a respected figure all the same. After rebuffing Madrid for weeks, even before PSG clinched its first French league title in 19 years on May 12, the club gave in to Ancelottis desire to leave and Madrids deeper pockets. Following Mourinhos three tumultuous seasons, Ancelotti received a three-year contract and the immediate task of rebuilding trust in a dressing room riven by his predecessor. He will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday. Ancelotti will also have to nail down his squad, with striker Gonzalo Higuain likely leaving and the club linked to attempts for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale after losing a complex bidding war for Neymar to Barcelona. Ancelotti will also need to resolve three hefty problems inherited from Mourinho: To find a way to definitely break Barcelonas hold on the Spanish league; win the Champions League after Madrid lost in the semifinals for three straight years; and decide if he gives goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas back his starting role, or continues to favour newcomer -- and Mourinhos preferred keeper -- Diego Lopez. Mourinho broke Barcelonas grip on the domestic league for one season, but was unable to win for Madrid an elusive 10th Champions League. Madrid hailed Ancelotti on Tuesday, saying hed been "elected best coach in all leagues where he has coached: Italy, England and France."t; Ancelotti, who won the European Cup twice as a player for AC Milan in 1989 and 1990, won Champions League crowns as the club coach in 2003 and 2007, and the Serie A in 2004.dddddddddddd He led Chelsea -- the club Mourinho now coaches -- to the English Premier League title and FA Cup in 2010. PSG spent lavishly in Ancelottis two seasons, with an outlay of around 260 million euros ($340 million) to secure big names like striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and centre back Thiago Silva. Despite having such talent at his disposal, Ancelotti struggled to get the squad to play cohesively. Under him, PSG never went beyond the quarterfinals of any domestic cup competition. When Ancelotti joined PSG during the winter break of the 2011-12 season, replacing Antoine Kombouare, it held a three-point lead over Montpellier, only to lose the league title by three points. The club recovered from that blow to win the league last season, finishing eight points clear of Marseille, despite a mid-season rocky patch that led to Ancelotti openly questioning the commitment of his players. PSG reportedly went after Fabio Capello, Andre Villas-Boas, Rafael Benitez and other high-profile managers before opting to give Blanc a two-year contract. PSG was also apparently not Blancs first choice. Only after Roma took Rudi Garcia did Blanc turn back to PSG, and the lack of total commitment by each side was written into a contract in which the second year was reportedly an optional year as the clubs hierarchy keep an eye on the situation at English club Arsenal, where Arsene Wenger has one season left on his contract. Wenger has long been a favourite of PSGs cash-rich Qatari-based owners, QSI. Blanc, a 1998 World Cup winner as an attacking midfielder for France, coached Bordeaux to the French title and League Cup in 2009, and was handed the reins to France a year later. He entered Euro 2012 on a 21-match unbeaten run, but the teams discipline and effort fell apart and France meekly bowed out to Spain in the quarterfinals. A year later, hes a manager again. ------ ' ' '
