After a good rest following an uncharacteristic run in the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks on May 6, Rachels Valentina is coming back to the races.Stonestreet Stables homebred Bernardini filly, a daughter of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, takes on six rivals in the $300,000, Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes on July 2 at Belmont Park. She finished off the board for the first time in her career with a sixth-place finish in the 1-1/8-mile Kentucky Oaks -- after missing by a neck in the 1-1/16-mile Ashland Stakes at Keeneland April 9 to 30-1 upsetter Weep No More.In the Mother Goose, Rachels Valentina backs up to the 1 1/16-mile distance again, at which she ran second last fall to Songbird in the 14 Hands Winery Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, also at Keeneland. Her two victories from five starts came at Saratoga Race Course last summer, where she broke her maiden going six furlongs en route to a win in the seven-furlong, Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes.Rachels Valentina drew post-position 6 and will have Hall of Famer John Velazquez aboard as one of three contenders for trainer Todd Pletcher.Pletcher also sends out King of Prussia Stables Mo dAmour, who finished fifth in the Kentucky Oaks and failed to menace on the turf last time out with an eighth in the June 5 Wonder Again Stakes at Belmont. He has Off the Tracks as well, turning back from her runner-up finish to Carina Mia in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on June 11 for Newtown Anner Stud and J Stables.Trainer Chad Brown will be represented by Kentucky Oaks third-place finisher Lewis Bay, also making her return to the races. Prior to the Oaks, the consistent Alpha Delta Stable homebred never finished worse than second in five starts, including a pair of Grade 2 victories at Aqueduct -- the Demoiselle last fall and the Gazelle on April 9 -- along with a runner-up finish to Kentucky Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream Park in February.Lewis Bay will break from post-position 5 with regular jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard.Up Hill Stables and Head of Plains Partners undefeated Lightstream could prove formidable while stretching out for the first time and putting her three-race win streak on the line with a return to dirt. This will be a good test for her, [to see] whether she fits with these sorts of horses in a Grade 1 and if she handles the distance, which Im confident she will, trainer Brian Lynch said.Winner of the Soaring Softly Stakes on May 21, her third straight win at seven furlongs and first on the turf, Lightstream has been a star pupil thus far as she prepares to make the jump to the highest ranks, where she will be ridden by Joel Rosario for the first time. The pair will leave from the outside. She had a nice breeze over the weekend to set her up for the race. Rosarios been working her and everything seems like hes happy and shes happy, Lynch said. I think shell get the mile and sixteenth. Shes very rideable and shes got that turn of foot. The lightly raced Harlans Holiday filly debuted at Gulfstream Park in March with a 2-1/4-length score, and graduated in the stakes ranks in her next start, diving through an opening along the rail in the stretch to post a three-quarter-length victory in the Grade 3 Beaumont Stakes on April 17 at Keeneland. In the Soaring Softly, Lightstream missed the break but regrouped with a wide chasing trip to prevail by a half-length.Shes been a great overachiever. Any kind of hiccup shes had -- whether she breaks a bit slow, or gets herself into some trouble -- shes been able to overcome everything so far, Lynch said. Were looking forward to running her.For more stories like this check out Americas Best Racing. Luis Barrera Jersey . SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. Mike Fiers Jersey . BALTIMORE -- The Texas Rangers new-look lineup was no match for a rookie right-hander making his fourth major league start.Dylan Bundy pretty much got the best of Yu Darvish, too.Bundy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for the second time in a row, and the Baltimore Orioles used a four-homer attack to beat the Rangers 5-1 Tuesday night in a duel between AL division leaders.Facing Texas for the first time as a starter, Bundy allowed one hit and a walk over seven sparkling innings against a potent batting order featuring newcomers Carlos Beltran and Jonathan Lucroy. He threw the ball really well, said Ian Desmond, who drew a fourth-inning walk. Hes stingy. Didnt miss over the plate to me much.Bundy (4-3) outpitched Darvish (2-3), who allowed three homers for only the second time in 90 major league appearances. Pedro Alvarez connected in the fifth and seventh innings, and Adam Jones went deep on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth.Darvish was pulled after Alvarezs second homer made it 3-0, and Matt Wieters greeted reliever Dario Alvarez with a shot to right.Facing the Orioles for the first time since taking the loss in the 2012 wild-card game, Darvish gave up three runs and struck out nine in his seventh start since returning following Tommy John surgery. He made progress, in my opinion, on how he threw the baseball, how he competed and just how he attacked the strike zone, manager Jeff Banister said. He had to pitch almost flawless with what Bundy was doing.Lucroy liked what he saw from Darvish from behind the plate.Yeah, we got on the same page after the first inning, said Lucroy, who was dealt by Milwaukee. He gave us a chance to win. Their guy was a little better. The loss snapped the AL West-leading Rangers four-game winning streak. Playing with Texas for the first time since being obtained Monday in separate trades, Beltran went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and Lucroy was hitless with a walk but scored the Rangers lonne run.ddddddddddddBundy retired the first 10 batters before Desmond walked and was thrown out trying to steal as Beltran struck out. Elvis Andrus ended the rookies no-hit bid with a clean line drive up the middle with two outs in the sixth.Bundy capped his outing with a 1-2-3 seventh, the farthest hes gone in the majors. Facing the team with the ALs best record, the right-hander struck out seven and didnt allow a runner past first base. The seventh was his last inning, regardless, manager Buck Showalter said. That was a pretty good progression for him. He almost got through the sixth inning last time.In his previous outing, Bundy -- the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft -- retired the first 16 batters against Colorado before giving up three runs in the sixth.Texas closed to 4-1 in the eighth against Brad Brach before Darren ODay struck out Desmond with the bases loaded and two outs. ODay came back in the ninth to earn his third save.It was the second consecutive win for the Orioles following a five-game skid that temporarily dropped them out of first place in the AL East.MILESTONESRangers: Texas run of 14 straight games with a HR ended.Orioles: It was Showalters 518th win as Orioles manager, lifting him out of a tie with Paul Richards and into sole possession of second place on the teams career list.
