Tight end Jake Butt‘s long recovery from his third torn ACL is set to take a step forward on Wednesday.Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Butt is expected to be a full participant in team drills at Broncos practice. It’s a non-padded session Von Miller Jersey White , but still a sign of progress for Butt.Butt tore his ACL three games into the 2018 season and head coach Vic Fangio said early in camp that he’d hit a “little pothole” in his recovery. Butt missed a lot of time at the start of camp while navigating around that setback before finally resuming on-field work.Butt also tore his ACL while at Michigan and in his final college game, but called this rehab “the hardest thing” he’s done in his life earlier this month. If he’s well enough to make the 53-man roster at the start of the season, Butt will vie for snaps with Jeff Heuerman and first-round pick Noah Fant. Even though we’re talking about practice, there’s genuine excitement again over the direction of the Denver Broncos (unlike the last two seasons where it was forced). The hiring of Vic Fangio as head coach and the coaching staff he has in place, what seems like two great drafts and the vibe the team is sending out after OTAs and minicamp has reignited the fuse. There’s still a lot of work to do in training camp and the preseason, but you can just feel it. Since we’re closing in on Broncos training camp, what is the important thing you want/need to see from Denver? I asked Adam Malnati that question on the MHR Radio Podcast (ApplePodcasts, Spotify and Stitcher). Our responses were similar, but how we got there followed different routes. Adam said he wants to see how Joe Flacco takes to Rich Scangarello’s system and the chemistry he has with his route runners. As we’ve seen the last three seasons, when you don’t have a quarterback, you’re up the creek with no paddle. For me, it’s all about the offensive line. I want to see how that unit has taken to Mike Munchak’s and Chris Kuper’s coaching. I want to see the rapport the guys have developed and how they do against the Broncos front seven. Yes, that is somewhat limited since there are only so many days in shells and full pads, but you can get a good gauge of how the line is doing in the move-the-ball drill and some of the other moments in practice. If the Broncos offensive line looks good and carries that over to the preseason, that makes it more likely Flacco and the offense as a whole succeeds. At least we’re closer to actual, real football and there’s genuine excitement again in Broncos Country.Get your Broncos gearOur partner at BreakingT has a great deal for fans, and right in time for the start of training camp.
