NEW YORK -- On the same day they honored several heroes of the past, a new era of New York Yankees baseball began with a bang.Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge, who were called up by the Yankees from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Saturdays game against the Tampa Bay Rays, delivered back-to-back home runs in their first major league at-bats during the second inning of an 8-4 victory at Yankee Stadium.Austin and Judge are the first pair of teammates in baseball history to accomplish the feat, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. You cant draw it up any better when you call up two young players, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. With two out in the second, Austin drove a 2-2, 92 mph fastball from Rays right-hander Matt Andriese just over the 314 sign in right field, which prompted both Austin and Girardi to pump their fists in celebration.I dont think I couldve asked for anything better, Austin said. Its pretty awesome.Shortly after, Judge followed with a mammoth blast when he drilled a 1-2, 87 mph changeup from Andriese off the batters eye glass in center field. What a day, Judge said. Thats all I can really say.According to ESPNs home run tracking data, Judges towering homer traveled 457 feet with an exit velocity of 109 mph. It tied for the fourth-longest home run ever hit at Yankee Stadium, behind Raul Ibanez (477 feet), Alex Rodriguez (460 feet) and Carlos Correa (459 feet). Mark Trumbo also hit a 457-foot shot.On Friday, Rodriguez, who has 696 career home runs -- trailing only Babe Ruth (714), Hank Aaron (755) and Barry Bonds (762) -- played his final game as a Yankee. Rodriguez was officially released before Saturdays game.Prior to Saturdays game, the Yankees honored their 1996 World Series championship team. Players in attendance included Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Bernie Williams, Andy Pettitte and Jorge Posada.Austin and Judge each finished with two hits in four at-bats. The duo had combined for 32 homers this season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Austin 13, Judge 19).Judge, 24, has long been considered one of the top prospects in New Yorks farm system, while Austin, also 24, has had to overcome several injuries and other setbacks to get to this point. Judge, a 6-foot-7 slugger who general manager Brian Cashman said will become the teams every-day right fielder, was ranked as the No. 23 overall prospect in Keith Laws midseason rankings. Austin will play a reserve outfield/first-base role behind Mark Teixeira, Cashman said. The players found out they were getting called up in different ways. Austin learned of his promotion before the RailRiders road game Friday in Rochester, New York, while Judge was eating dinner with his parents after the game. Scranton manager Al Pedrique, who also happened to be having a meal there, approached Judge around midnight with the good news.He kind of walked up and said, You guys better hurry up. This guys gotta be in New York for a game tomorrow, Judge said. It kind of took me by surprise. I wasnt expecting that at all. I was just glad my family was able to be there and enjoy that moment. Both players planned to give Saturdays home run balls to their families.Judge did not get into New York until 6 a.m. Saturday. He got the opportunity after Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner injured his ankle Friday and wasnt going to be available. Gardner is day-to-day.I felt bad because theyre up in Rochester, but with it being Judges first call-up, hes not going to sleep anyway, Cashman said. Its a 1:25 p.m. first pitch. Thank God hes young, because if it were me, Id be a zombie right now. With the adrenaline, hell bounce back, and hopefully thatll be enough for him to enjoy the day.The Yankees, known in past years for their lavish spending on superstar talent, shifted gears at the trade deadline by unloading?Carlos Beltran, Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller and adding several prospects to their system.Their youth movement got off to a strong start Saturday.Theres a lot of excitement that they have, and probably rightfully so, Rays manager Kevin Cash said. Judge definitely looks the part. If he wasnt playing baseball, it looks like he should be a defensive end somewhere. Hes massive. Hes bigger than [Giancarlo] Stanton.Discount Nike Vapormax .Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Kevin Porter and defenceman Chad Ruhwedel from the minors as part of a five-player roster shuffle made by the NHLs worst team. Kompany was one of nine changes Guardiola made to his lineup following last Saturdays 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, but the Belgium international left the pitch in the final minutes of stoppage time in a frustrated and angry state in the 2-1 EFL Cup victory over Swansea after suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury. The blow overshadowed a victory that has created another Manchester derby against United at Old Trafford next month in the round of 16 in the EFL Cup, and its the latest in a staggeringly long string of lower-body muscle injuries for Kompany. His last match prior to Wednesday ended early due to a thigh injury suffered in the Champions League semifinals defeat to Real Madrid.Hopefully it will not be a big problem. If hes injured, hes injured, he cannot stay on the pitch. Guardiola told Citys official website as he seemed to lament the situation more because Kompany was sharp in his season debut. The manager noted defensively he was so strong and he played really good. While the loss of Kompany is again a blow Manchester City (5-0-0) must absorb, there were positives as Guardiolas overturned XI enjoyed the run of play and got second-half goals from Gael Clichy and 19-year-old Aleix Garcia. It was the first start of the season for the starlet, one of six players Guardiola promoted from the teams developmental squad. The academy provides some good players like weve seen tonight, Clichy said. It was a good night for the young players and everybody is happy now.But the happiest of all players Saturday may be Sergio Aguero, who completed his three-match ban for elbowing West Hams Winston Reid by sitting out Wednesdays victory and is eligible to return. Aguero, who has run rampant with nine goals in just five matches has played only once since Aug. 28 -- scoring three goals in a 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Sept. 14.The Argentina international, however, has yet to score at Liberty Stadium in four career matches. In fact, he has just two shots on goal in those contests and has never scored in Wales, also failing to find the back of the net in a match against Cardiff. As Aguero returns, Nolito will miss this match as he serves a red cardd suspension.ddddddddddddThat likely leaves space for Kelechi Iheanacho, who had goals in his previous three matches before being held off the scoresheet Wednesday and scored in both matches versus Swansea City last season. The Nigeria international, who also became just the 16th player to score 10 Premier League goals as a teenager, also was recalled to the Super Eagles roster for their World Cup qualifier at Zambia next month. While Manchester City have dealt with a bare minimum of adversity in the early going, Swansea City (1-1-3) are awash in struggles and drama entering a brutal stretch of schedule that will see them host Liverpool next weekend and come out of the international break at Arsenal. While the Swans acquitted themselves well in Wednesdays defeat and got a late consolation marker from Gylfi Sigurdsson, rumours are swirling in Wales that manager Francesco Guidolin is on the hot seat and there are divisions in the board room between chairman Huw Jenkins and new American majority owners Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan over whether there should be a change along the touchline.I am optimistic because I saw my players play a good game, Guidolin said after the match. Saturday against Manchester City will be more difficult than this. They had a very good team tonight even if they played without some players, but on Saturday there will be new important players here.Guidolin made a slew of changes following his sides 1-0 defeat to Southampton, most notably giving Leon Britton his season debut and letting the 34-year-old pull the strings in the midfield. Summer signing Borja Baston finally got his first start, and the Spaniard could be in line for his first Premier League start as well after looking comfortable and finding some creases against Man Citys backline. We started a little nervously, but we gained more confidence after Borja went close to scoring, centreback Mike van der Hoom told Swanseas official website. We did well in the first half, but it became more difficult when they scored the first goal -- it was a bad time to concede. If we had scored a little earlier, it would have given us more time to get an equaliser. We have to learn from this. We know how they play, and they know how we play. Its a new game on Saturday, and we hope for a better result.Manchester City are unbeaten in their last nine (7-2-0) in all competitions versus Swansea City and 8-2-1 all-time against the Swans. Despite getting only one point in their last six matches against the Citizens, the Swans have not been shut out in any of them while getting outscored 14-8. ' ' '
